Starts: Thursday 11 December 2025
Format: 2-day live online course

Running a project in a charity or voluntary organisation can be complex. Teams juggle limited resources, short-term funding, growing demand and diverse partnerships. NCVO’s Project Management in the Voluntary Sector course is designed to support staff at all levels to plan, deliver and manage projects with more confidence.

The course runs over two live online days and uses real examples from VCSE organisations. It is especially useful for people delivering funded projects, coordinating volunteer teams, managing contracts or overseeing programmes linked to health and care, wellbeing, arts, inclusion or community development.

Participants will gain practical tools that can be used immediately – whether you are managing a small pilot, a neighbourhood initiative or a larger multi-partner programme.

The training covers:

  • How to design a clear project plan with realistic timelines

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and stakeholder relationships

  • Tools for managing risk and dealing with unexpected change

  • Budgeting and financial tracking

  • Monitoring progress and capturing outcomes

  • Reporting back to funders and partners in accessible ways

  • Building a project culture that supports teamwork and communication

What makes NCVO’s approach effective is its focus on the realities of the sector. There’s recognition that many teams are stretched, and that project leads often wear several hats. The course offers ways to simplify processes, avoid project drift and maintain focus on the difference you want to make.

If your organisation is preparing for new funding rounds, expanding a project, or refining internal systems, this course can strengthen how you plan and deliver work.
