Creating inclusive, accessible activities can be challenging. This session offers a practical way to explore a ready-made approach that supports communication and participation.
Beyond Words is hosting a free online taster session to introduce its Book Club in a Box project.
What Is It?
This is a one-hour online session that gives a live demonstration of how Book Club in a Box works.
The session includes:
- A shared picture book experience
- An introduction to the Book Club in a Box model
- Insight into how the sessions support communication and inclusion
The books use images instead of text, helping remove barriers linked to reading ability and supporting people with learning disabilities.
Why It Matters
For the Third Sector in Leeds, this offers a practical tool for delivering inclusive group activity.
It may be useful for organisations working with people with learning disabilities, communication needs, or those who benefit from non-text-based engagement.
The wider project also includes a fully funded resource package, which could support ongoing delivery without additional cost.
What’s Included in the Project
If you take part in the full programme, you may be eligible for:
- A box of 30 picture books
- Training and support
- Resources to support group delivery
Funding for these boxes is limited, with availability expected to end later in 2026.
