Community organisations across West Yorkshire can now apply for funding to help more people walk, wheel and cycle with confidence.
The funding is being made available by West Yorkshire Combined Authority as part of the Weaver Network, the new integrated transport network for West Yorkshire.
Applications are open now and close at 11:59pm on Friday 1 July.
What Is Available?
There are two types of funding available:
- Small grants of up to £5,000 for one-off projects
- Larger grants of up to £50,000 for organisations to become long-term walking and cycling hubs
Funding must be spent within 12 months of receiving the grant.
What Can the Funding Support?
The funding is designed to support local projects that help people walk, wheel or cycle more confidently in their communities.
This could include activities such as:
- Walking groups
- Cycling confidence sessions
- Accessible cycling projects
- Bike maintenance activities
- Community rides
- Training and support
- Projects that help people connect with local services, activities and transport
The aim is to broaden access to walking, wheeling and cycling by supporting organisations to deliver services in ways that work locally.

Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to community organisations across West Yorkshire.
This may include charities, community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and local organisations working with communities.
Why This Matters
Walking, wheeling and cycling can support better health, wellbeing, independence and connection.
For VCSE organisations, this funding could help create practical local projects that support people to move around their communities with more confidence.
It may be particularly relevant for organisations working around health and wellbeing, older people, disabled people, community development, physical activity, social isolation, local access or neighbourhood support.
Help With Applications
One-to-one bid writing support is available for organisations applying to the fund.
This support is intended to help new applicants, as well as organisations that may have applied before and been unsuccessful.
Deadline
Applications close at: 11:59pm on Friday 1 July
