Forum Central, the Leeds Health and Care Academy and Voluntary Action Leeds are inviting third sector organisations to a new networking and engagement event focused on the future workforce across Leeds.
Third Sector Careers in Focus will bring together VCSE organisations, schools, colleges, universities and employment partners to explore how more young people can be introduced to careers within the third sector and wider health and care system.
The event takes place on Wednesday 10 June 2026, from 9:30am to 12:30pm at St George’s Conference Centre, Leeds.
Supporting the Future Workforce
The session will focus on practical ways organisations can connect with young people and help raise awareness of the wide range of career opportunities available across the third sector.
This includes exploring routes into:
- Volunteering
- Work experience
- Student placements
- Internships
- Employment opportunities
- Community and health-related careers
The event also aims to strengthen connections between the VCSE sector and education providers across Leeds, helping organisations better understand how careers education currently works from secondary school through to further and higher education.
Leeds continues to place increasing emphasis on workforce development, prevention, community-based support and neighbourhood working across health and care services. The third sector plays a significant role within this landscape, but many young people remain unaware of the breadth of careers and opportunities available within VCSE organisations.
This event creates space for organisations to:
- Share ideas and challenges
- Build relationships with education and careers partners
- Explore collaborative approaches to workforce development
- Consider how the sector can better attract and inspire future staff and volunteers
The session also links to wider conversations taking place across Leeds around workforce resilience, skills development and creating clearer pathways into community, health and care roles.
