Everybody is welcome to attend this year’s Black Music Festival on Sunday 27 August in memory of Heather Nelson. The festival is free to attend and will be taking place at Potternewton Park, Leeds, LS7 4HA.

Below is the update given by the Black Health Initiative Board, which you can also view on their website.

Following the passing of our CEO Heather Nelson, we have been overwhelmed with the love and support from the community, the voluntary sector as a whole and all our partners and volunteers. We wish to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has reached out over the last few weeks.

Heather has been the driving force for BHI for 14 years and will be sadly missed by everyone at the organisation, our partners and by the communities BHI has supported.

Heather’s legacy will live on in the work BHI will continue to deliver in striving for equality of access to education, health and social care.

This year’s Black Music Festival will pay tribute to Heather and celebrate her outstanding contribution to the community of Leeds and beyond, please join us if you can on Sunday 27 August from noon onwards.
