Leeds is recruiting for Independent Members for the new Leeds Place Based Committee which will pick up responsibility for the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board in Leeds when the Clinical Commissioning Group ends in June.  The Committee Members will play a key role in bringing constructive, independent and respectful challenge to our plans, aims & priorities to make “Leeds the best city in the UK for health and wellbeing, a healthy caring city for all ages, where the poorest improve their health the fastest both now and for future generations.

The Integrated Care Board  is a new statutory organisation that, subject to legislation, is expected to be established on 1 July 2022.  It will be part of the West Yorkshire Integrated Care System (ICS) – known as the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership (the Partnership).

Each of the five places (Leeds, Bradford District and Craven; Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield) is establishing an ICB Committee with delegated authority from the ICB to make decisions about the use of NHS resources in that local place, including agreeing a plan to meet the health and healthcare needs of the population, allocating resources to deliver the plan and arranging for the provision of health services.

Place committees will be made up of senior leaders including those from the local authority, NHS provider trusts, primary care and the voluntary community social enterprise sector. Place committees will operate in similar ways, but their composition will vary in line with local needs.

Because the role of the Third Sector in Leeds is very much as an equal partner within the health and care system, this is reflected in the partnership structures.

Subject to agreement by the ICB Remuneration and Nomination Committee,  indicative remuneration for an anticipated time commitment of 2 days per month is:

  • Independent Chairs: up to £13,000 per annum
  • Independent Members: up to £10,000 per annum

Information about the opportunities available in each place, including contact details, can be found in the applicant packs.  The closing date is Friday 4 February, 5pm.
