Forum Central in partnership with public health is distributing a small grants fund, from a total pot of £12,000, to improve the health and wellbeing of the Roma Community through developing trusted relationships between the Roma community and services in the city.
Applications close Friday 26 April 2024 at 12pm (noon/midday).
Grants of between £200 – £4000 will be allocated to local organisations, grassroots groups and individuals working in or with the Roma community, to support the recommendations of the Roma Mental Health Needs Assessment (pdf).
The grant scheme will enable local third sector community organisations and individuals to apply for one off funding to build on local expertise and good practice to engage with the Roma Community, demonstrating how they are creating, embedding and evaluating their work with the community themselves.

Small Grants Fund: Improving Roma Community Health and Wellbeing
Are you part of, or do you work with the Roma community?
Small grants of between £200-£4000 are available for projects to help improve the health and wellbeing of the Roma community in Leeds.
Aims of the project should address one or more of the following:
- Improve living conditions
- Improve health and wellbeing
- Improve access to services
…for the Roma community
For example, perhaps you have an idea for how the Roma community can be supported in their use of healthcare services. Perhaps there are important health messages that could be shared in different ways with this group. Examples of what the money could be spent on are; developing accessible information, group activities, community engagement etc. – we are open to your ideas!
The timescale for spending the grants will be 6 to 12 months from the date of the award and an update on progress will be requested every 3 months.
How to Apply
Deadline: Friday 26 April 2024 at 12pm noon/midday
Applicants must be:
- Individuals, grassroots groups or local organisations working in or with the Roma Community.
- At least 18 years old
- Based in Leeds
- Able to demonstrate how the project addresses at least one of the specified aims.
